I have been away from the technology game for a few years now, and because of this, I have very old computer hardware. Its difficult to return to an industry you knew so well, even after such a short time.

In the technology sector (particularly IT), any more than 3-6 months away and you have to relearn most things. So it is with me. I'm finding that everything I knew is not applicable anymore, so I'm starting from scratch.

Recently, I went through a phase where I had to choose an Operating System. I'll always have to have the obligatory Microsoft Windows partition (I like my games too much), but for every day use I adore Linux. But which one to choose? They've all changed over the last few years, so surely they must be better; faster; more compatible etc?
