Rebuilding After Gaza Disengagement
Moshe and Tina were former residents of Nisanit, a community in northern Gaza, where they were forced to leave their home in the Gaza Strip, due to Israel's unilateral disengagement plan. The ‘disengagement plan’ or ‘Gaza expulsion plan’ was enacted in August 2005, to evict all Israelis from the Gaza Strip and from four settlements in the northern West Bank, in the hope and pursuit of peace.
Tina’s hobby of photography became a historical legacy of the once beautiful garden they had created in her former home in the Gaza strip. Creating beautiful cards, plaques, and photographic artwork, with verses in both Hebrew and English, Tina is able to share the beauty of their garden that once existed in the Gaza Strip. Tina also developed a website called “Nomad: Original Photography and Handcrafted Gifts from Israel,” where she displays and sells her beautiful artwork. The sale of these photographs and crafts has been a source of income in helping them rebuild their lives.
In March 2009, Tina and Moshe were able to begin building their new home on a moshav near the city of Acco, which is on the coast near the Lebanese border. As of July 31, 2010, they were actually able to move into their home.
